Session News
The Session meeting for September
was held on the 24th. Rev. Nelson introduced us to the New
Mover Program, a way to introduce our church to new residents within a
3.25 mile radius of the church, first with a postcard, then a follow-up
phone call or letter. We will
receive monthly update of new residents.
The Fellowship committee held a Flea Market in mid-September and
hopes to make it an annual event.
They will sponsor a “Meet and Eat” at Vinnie T’s in Wynnewood on
October 12th and another new event, Ladies Night Out on October 23rd.
The Mission committee will hold a cook in on Saturday, September
27th for Aid for Friends.
They presented the restored Church Charter.
The Personnel Committee brought up questions about the Children
First Preschool. A study has
been requested to gather more information about their administration and
it will become a part of the Christian Education committee’s
responsibilities. Session
will look into hiring a Youth Group leader on a limited part time basis.
Painting of the front of the Sanctuary has been completed and the
Eagle Scout candidate, Stephen Robbins is working on painting the CE
Auditorium. Management
committee will hold a fall Workday on October 25th.
The doors to the CE Building have been delivered and will be
installed shortly.
Anniversary Sunday will be September 28th.
The Stewardship committee will kick off their campaign in October.
An “On Call” list of Elders was prepared to back up Rev. Nelson
when necessary. The
membership of MPC stands at 254 following the death of long time member,
Ray Irwin in September. The
next meeting of Session will be Wednesday, October 22, 2008.
Charter of Incorporation
We are in possession of an historic church document, Charter
of Incorporation, dated April 4, 1893.
It has been preserved so that we can exhibit this document for all to
see. The cost to preserve this document has run to $2,000.00. We hope that we
can offset this cost with donations from the congregation.
If you wish to be a part of this preservation of Marple’s history, please
use a pew envelope and mark it accordingly.
Thank you – The Session.
Would everyone with an e-mail address
please e-mail that address to Dianne Hirt at rustelleh@aol.com or to the
church office at marplepc@aol.com?
We are trying to update our records and include all e-mail addresses.
Thanks, Dianne.
